Step 1: Register as a Foreign Company
You must register your business as a foreign entity with the Montana Secretary of State.
Appoint a Montana Registered Agent
You need a registered agent with a physical address in Montana. InsureTrek offers this service for $45 through Registered Agents Inc, or you may use any registered agent provider of your choice.
File with the Montana SOS
- Visit the Montana Secretary of State business forms page.
- Create an account if you don't already have one.
- Complete the foreign business registration form and pay the $90 filing fee.
Step 2: Upload to NIPR ALD
Once your Secretary of State registration is approved:
- Upload your SOS registration approval documents to the NIPR Attachments & Licensing Documentation (ALD) portal.
Your license application will not be processed until the SOS registration documents are uploaded to NIPR ALD.
