Step 1: Register as a Foreign Company

You must register your business as a foreign entity with the Montana Secretary of State.

Appoint a Montana Registered Agent

File with the Montana SOS

  1. Visit the Montana Secretary of State business forms page.
  2. Create an account if you don't already have one.
  3. Complete the foreign business registration form and pay the $90 filing fee.

Step 2: Upload to NIPR ALD

Once your Secretary of State registration is approved:

  1. Upload your SOS registration approval documents to the NIPR Attachments & Licensing Documentation (ALD) portal.
Your license application will not be processed until the SOS registration documents are uploaded to NIPR ALD.
